LINFLOW - Car - Demo: Computing the Air Flow over a Carbody.
In this demo, we show the mechanics of running LINFLOW within the ANSYS menu system.
The goal of the simulation is to compute the velocity- and pressure-distribution
over a carbody, the car travelling at 25 [m/sec] or 90 [km/hour]. You will find that
-
Once you have etsblished the suface model of the carbody, the rest of the task
is fairly simple.
-
The solution time of 17 seconds on a standard PC is relatively short.
-
To get acceptable results, one has to model the road surface as well.
-
The results are in excellent agreement with the averaged results computed with
industry standard Navier-Stokes Solvers.
The model could very well have been expanded to include a stability analysis of the car,
accounting for tyres, wheel-suspension, and other factors.
Note: The demo will work as intended in FireFox (tested in Rel. 2.0.0.8) after allowing pop-ups.
The demo will display in Opera Rel. 9.24, but not as full screen.
The demo will not run in MS IE 7.0 at present.
